Smooth Transition

Giving our Foundation students the Best Start Possible

Transition from Kindergarten to Foundation can be serious business for little children and their families, and is something we take very seriously at Parkwood Green.

As a result we dedicate considerable resources and time to ensure the transition is as smooth as possible.

  • An initial school tour with the family in term 1,2 and 3 sets the scene for a friendly and welcoming experience..
  • An Information Evening for enrolled families late in term 3 provides all the information you need to know.
  • A four session transition program in Term 4 gives children a chance to experience a variety of Foundation classes and Foundation teachers in the company of other kinder children.
  • An Orientation Day in December allows children the chance to meet their future Foundation teacher, see who else is in their future  class, and spend time in their future room.

Feedback from parents indicate that this transition program is highly valued, and has proven very successful in settling their children into school.

In 2014 Parkwood Green PS  implemented an Enrolment Policy to manage the growing numbers at the school.  All Foundation students are enrolled and welcomed, with the school managing enrolments into years 1-6 through the following criteria: siblings, live in the local neighbourhood, outside the area.  These processes are predicated on the availablity of spaces at each year level.  Waiting Lists could apply.

The schools current enrolment is 1250.
