Beyond the Classroom

Flexible and Responsive Programs

In addition to a comprehensive individualised curriculum, Parkwood Green offers a range of learning opportunities beyond the classroom.

An extensive P-6 school camping and excursions program features camps for years 3 to 5, tours to Canberra for our Year 6 students,  and excursions to Scienceworks, the Zoo, and the Botannical Gardens ..... just to name a few!

Our extensive Kitchen Garden and associated Kitchen provides opportunities for children in the city to grow fruit and vegetables as part of the SAKG ktichen ngraden Program for our Year 4 students.  All children across the school are encouraged to participate in a  'Healthy Eating' program in some way.

Our PALZ (Passive Alternate Lunch Zone) program ensures that children have a quiet anbd supervised inside area to build  friendships or engage appropriately with others during recess or lunch times.  Positive behaviours are encouraged in all play areas across the school.

An Early Bird Readers program takes place early in the morning before school starts so that children wishing to build their reading skills can come to school early and participate in a reading program with student tutors.  This opportunity is offered throughout the school year.

A variety of lunchtime clubs exist at school that children can voluntarily join - these include gardening clubs, card swapping clubs, dance clubs and a host of other positive activies.

In addition, an active Student Representative Council organises numerous activities and events throughout the year.
